On Tuesday, June 8, at 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, Ford is scheduled to unveil a new hybrid pickup truck called the Maverick Hybrid. Compared to the Ranger, it’s both smaller and less expensive. It will be priced starting just over $20,000 for base models and scheduled to hit dealership by the end of the year.
From dissecting the spy photos, the Maverick looks like it will share the same platform as the Escape and Bronco Sport Crossover. The photos possibly show an independent rear suspension and unibody construction. Monetarily it makes sense for this truck to share the same powertrains as the Bronco Sport, possible giving buyers the option to upgrade from the base model to the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine with 250 horsepower.
Ford will offer a live stream of the 2022 Maverick Hybrid reveal on all their social media channels (including YouTube, TikTok, actress Gabrielle Union’s social media, and commercials on Hulu).
