Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a statement on Sunday saying, “Plaid+ is canceled. No need, as Plaid is just so good.” The Model S Plaid+ would have been Tesla’s highest-end model with a driving range of 520 miles. The Plaid+ was debuted a battery event last year, and Musk said Tesla would adopt its next generation 4680 cells. As all manufactures are experiencing to some degree, production was pushed back another year.

The Tesla website says the Model S Plaid can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 1.99 seconds with a top speed of 200 miles per hour and an estimated range of 390 miles. Musk tweeted, “Model S goes to Plaid speed this week.” It is due to debut on June 10. The Model S Plaid pricing starts around $112,990.
