Some things just getting better with time, like the 2022 Porsche Macan. This variant is the bestselling Porsche for a reason. Now, it has more power, is more capable and more beautiful than ever. Porsche plans for the 2022 Macan to arrive in U.S. dealerships early next year with an assortments of enhancements and updates.
Looking at the exterior, the Macan has a familiar design to previous models, but with new standard features like a new front end with integrated cooling air intakes, front trim in body color, LED headlights and Sport Design exterior mirrors. The rear end features a black diffuser that stretches upwards really adding to the sporty aesthetic. Even the side blades are upgraded, they now feature a 3D, textured structure element. Picking wheels may be difficult with seven new designs, and depending on the model, increasing the standard size from 19 and 21 inches.
On the interior, the standard features across all trims include an analog clock on the dashboard, redesigned center console with touch elements, new and shorter gear lever, and a larger storage compartment. The new Macan offers standard navigation and AppleCar Play on the 10.9 inch full-HD touchscreen. Porsche added the 911 variation steering wheel to the Macan GT Sport, providing an excellent interface between the driver and car. There is also an optional, new interior package with deviated stitching in Papaya, Gentian Blue and Chalk.
All models come loaded with technology and new standard driver assistance systems. The big ones include Lane Departure Warning, plus front and rear Park Assist with a rear-view camera. Buyers also have the option to add on additional driver assistance systems like self-steering Park Assist, adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assist and blind spot monitoring Lane Change Assist function. These features are great optionS for buyers who plan to really utilize the Grand Tourer functionality, making travel effortless.
The Macan GTS also received several updates including 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in satin black, Sport Design side skirts, clear LED taillights, plus a Sport Exhaust system with black tailpipes. Buyers will feel like hitting the track, instead of the road.
Not to worry, Porsche still kept their focus on the Macan’s performance. All 2022 models now feature a standard 7-speed dual clutch PDK transmission, all-wheel drive and a more powerful powertrain. Standard it runs on a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package the Macan hits 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and a top track speed of 144 mph.
The Macan S variant has a few updates of its own with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). It drives with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine generating 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, with a top track speed of 160 mph. The Macan S adds a much more aggressive and powerful driving option.
The Macan GTS variant, the top model, has a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine tuned to produce 434 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, it hits 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top track speed of 169 mph. Drivers will really be able to feel the power in the GTS. It also has Porsche Surface Coated Brakes with red calipers, adaptive air suspension with 10 mm lower ride height, new bump stops, new strut mounts and newly calibrated dampers. The suspension is even 15 percent stiffer, reducing body roll. All these upgrades features give the Macan GTS better comfort and performance.
There is even another upgrade option on the Macan GTS, the new Sport Package. This package includes everything from the Sport Chrono Package, plus Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats, Sport Design mirrors with black high-gloss painted caps, front and rear fascia, satin black side skirts and 21-inch GT Design wheels with high-performance tires. The Sport Package even has an upgraded interior with carbon fiber elements, deviated stitching and more Race-Tex features. This is the ultimate way to own the new 2022 Porsche Macan.
The 2022 Porsche Macan is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships early next year. Pricing will start at $54,900 plus a $1,350 fee for delivery, processing and handling. The Macan S and GTS will arrive closer to Spring for dealerships. The Macan S has a starting price of $65,400, and the Macan GTS starts at $79,990, adding the $1,350 to both variations.
